Healing with Kaye Oakley
Everything in the universe vibrates, and has a frequency – even things that are apparently still, like rocks, footpaths and buildings. In fact, matter itself is a function of vibration. And these vibrations can change – if you’ve ever played a stringed instrument such as a guitar, you’ll have noticed that when you pluck one string (i.e. make it vibrate), the others also vibrate, although to a lesser extent. This is called resonance.
Like everything else in the universe, crystals vibrate, but because of their repetitive molecular structure, their vibrational frequency remains constant – this is why we use quartz crystals in watches, etc.
According to crystal healing theory, these stones have positive, healing qualities, often associated with their colour or other qualities. For example, amethyst has calming qualities, and rose quartz is associated with unconditional love and forgiveness. (There are large books on which crystals are associated with what qualities, so it’s beyond the scope of this blog to go into it!). So we can use the positive vibrations of the stones and resonance to bring ourselves more into alignment with these positive qualities.
Well, I can only describe how I do it! After I chat with you about what your intentions are for the session, you will lie down on a massage table and get comfy with a fluffy blanket over you. I’ll lead you in a guided relaxation and then place stones around the parts of the body associated with certain energy centres, and then encourage those energy centres to be as healthy as possible, and for energy to flow freely. In a transpersonal crystal healing session, I might tailor the stones more specifically to your intentions, and also bring in guided visualisation, movement or other work to support your goals.
Basically, you’ll lie on a massage table under a fluffy blanket and get seriously relaxed, while the stones do the work!
Many people find that crystal healing sessions can help them to relax and also to gain insight around issues in their lives, and to experience greater wellbeing at the level of body, mind and spirit.
Obviously, crystal healing should never be used as a substitute for medical or psychological advice or treatment.
But if it resonates with you (see what I did there), you may wish to use crystals or crystal healing sessions as a support for other allopathic treatment – and the great thing about crystals is that unless you do something really weird with them, they will not interact with any medication you have been prescribed.
