Yoga for Cancer Patients - Self care for your cancer journey

Have you, or a family member had a cancer diagnosis?

A cancer diagnosis and treatment brings with it so much – the logistics of treatment, surgery, side effects, medications ... You might also be experiencing sleeplessness, exhaustion, anxiety and a loss of control as you process the unexpected.

How do you support yourself through this journey?

Perhaps you used to go to yoga classes, but know that your needs are different now. Yoga still has so much to offer, but it’s time for a different approach.

Yoga for Cancer Patients classes at the Kay van Norton Centre for Wellbeing at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney can help.

These classes are designed to meet you where you’re at, give you tools to manage physical and mental symptoms; build and rebuild strength in a safe and supportive way; and connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

Kaye will guide you through restorative movement, breath and rest practices that help relieve tension and pain. This style of yoga is an evidence-based approach to support cancer patients to ease anxiousness, sleeplessness, and uncertainty.  Participants have used these classes to build their strength and capacity to feel inspired to do the things that you love to support your treatment, healing and beyond.

Kaye is a fully trained yoga therapist through the Yoga Therapy Institute, and has additional training in supporting people with cancer.  These classes are offered alongside Oncology Care at the Mater Hospital North Sydney at the Kay Van Norton Centre for Wellbeing – click here for details about the Centre and classes or email Kaye. Doctor’s clearance recommended to commence practice.
