Healing with Kaye Oakley
I can’t believe that I haven’t featured obsidian before, it’s one of my favourites.
It’s often known as the “wizard stone” – which right there is a great reason to go out and get yourself some, really.
More technically, it’s known as volcanic glass – because that’s where it comes from. It is glossy, usually opaque, and stunning to look at.
Historically it has been used to create weapons and tools (such as arrowheads) – and of course in magical practice since ancient times, as it is believe to enhance latent magical abilities (which is pretty cool).
But the most important use that most of us have for this stone in crystal healing is as a powerful, powerful protective stone. I think of it as sucking up negativity and hostility as well as defending against energetic vampires. For years I wore an obsidian bracelet every day, purely for that purpose – and you can bet I cleansed and charged it every night!
Do you like this wizard’s stone? How do you use it?
